Taking MICARDIS®

To reach your blood pressure goals and maintain the benefits of MICARDIS® (telmisartan) tablets, it's important to keep taking your medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Try these tips to help you remember to take MICARDIS at the right time every day:

  • Place a reminder where you'll see it—such as on your bathroom mirror or refrigerator door.
  • Keep all your medications together in one place.
  • Make it a habit to take your medication at the same time every day.
  • Store MICARDIS at room temperature, 15°–30°C (59°–86°F). MICARDIS is moisture-sensitive and exposure to moisture causes tablets to become sticky and pliable.
  • Do not remove tablets from blisters until immediately before taking.

What is the recommended dosing for MICARDIS?

The usual starting dose of MICARDIS tablets is 40 mg once a day. But the dose can vary from person to person. Blood pressure response is dose-related over the range of 20-80 mg.

Your blood pressure may show a decrease after the first dose, but maximum reduction is generally seen after four weeks.

How do I know if MICARDIS is working?

High blood pressure usually has no symptoms, so you may not be able to tell if your medication is working to lower your blood pressure. That's why it is important to take your medication every day and see your doctor regularly to have your blood pressure checked.

How long do I need to take MICARDIS?

Hypertension does not usually go away. Even if you are feeling well and your blood pressure is at goal, you still have to take your medication every day.
