MICARDIS® 80 MG

Aim for lower blood pressure levels. And do more to reduce cardiovascular risk.

If you need more help than lower doses of MICARDIS® (telmisartan) tablets can offer, your doctor may prescribe MICARDIS 80 mg to help lower your blood pressure. MICARDIS 80 mg has been shown to:

  • Provide consistent blood pressure control 24 hours a day.

INDICATION: MICARDIS 80 mg may help you do more to reduce cardiovascular risk

Now, your doctor may also consider MICARDIS 80 mg to help lower your risk of heart attack, stroke, or death from cardiovascular causes.

Your doctor may consider MICARDIS 80 mg to reduce your cardiovascular risk if you:

  • Are 55 years of age or older.
  • Cannot take an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. ACE inhibitors lower blood pressure by preventing the formation of "angiotensin II," a natural substance your body makes that narrows blood vessels.
  • Are at high risk of developing major cardiovascular events. You may be considered high risk if you have a history of one or more of the following conditions:
          — Coronary artery disease.
          — Peripheral artery disease.
          — A past stroke or mini-stroke (TIA or transient ischemic attack).
          — High-risk diabetes (insulin-dependent or non-insulin-dependent) with evidence of
              end-organ damage.

Only MICARDIS 80 mg is indicated for cardiovascular risk reduction. All other MICARDIS dosages are indicated for the treatment of hypertension only.
MICARDIS 80 mg is indicated for reduction of the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death from cardiovascular causes in patients who are 55 years of age or older, at high risk of developing major cardiovascular events, and unable to take ACE inhibitors. You may be considered high risk if you have a history of coronary artery disease, peripheral artery disease, stroke, mini-stroke (TIA or transient ischemic attack), or high-risk diabetes (insulin-dependent or non-insulin dependent) with evidence of end-organ damage.

Talk to your doctor to find out if MICARDIS 80 mg may be right for you.
