Lose weight if you are above your ideal weight. When your weight goes
up, your blood pressure goes up. Even a weight loss of just 10 pounds
can help lower your blood pressure.
Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, such as bananas, or other foods
high in potassium. Potassium helps balance the amount of salt in your
body. Too much salt leads to increased fluids in your body and increases
blood pressure. Limit salt and fat in your diet and eat more foods with
fiber (whole grains). Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietitian for
help with your diet.
